Man Ray mod. Les grands transparents Mirror for Simon Gavina 1970s

“Les grands trans-Parents” is a 1938 mirror designed by the great photographer Man Ray for Simon Gavina. A mysterious play on words for a mirror that has now become a true work of art. “Les grands trans-Parents” is an elliptical mirror with a polished silkscreen edge and a rigid polyurethane support. Designed by Man Ray in 1938, it was edited by Simon Gavina in 1971 and contains a phrase deliberately typed to confuse the actual translation. “Grande” means “transparent”, which means that the most obvious things are often invisible to the eye, and this is the only certainty revealed by the American artist, photographer and filmmaker, a leading figure of Dadaism.
